Rochester as a Child in Charlotte Brontes, Jane Eyre
In the novel, Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte, Jane is subconsciously enticed by Rochesters
girlish nature because she sees in him an opportunity to claim the sense of a childhood which she

Rochester brings all of the ladies from out of townsfolk in chapter 17, and Jane thinks to herself, I had not

there detected; and now, at the first renewed construe of him, they spontaneously revived, green and
strong! He made me love him without looking at me. (Bronte 193). This pattern of Rochester making
