Pip becomes a true gentleman by his change in personality and his treatment towards others. Pip specifically shows his maturity and change of attitude through his interactions with Magwitch, Herbert and Joe.

However after Magwitch explains that he was handle unfairly by Compeyson and that he does not truly be to be labeled as a convict, Pip starts to become fuddledr to him. Towards the end of the novel Pip becomes so close to Magwitch that his safety is one of his top priorities.



Pip displays continuous hold water to Magwitch and is always making sure he is safe in hiding. When planning Magwitchs escape Pip shows sadness and expresses that, sounding back at him, I thought of the first night of his return when our positions were reversed, and when I little supposed my heart could ever be as heavy and anxious at leave from him as it was now (402). This passage shows how Pip truly cares almost Magwitch towards the end of the novel and how he regrets the way he treated him before.
